What is Reiki?

REIKI (pronounced RAY key)

Reiki is a gentle Japanese technique of relaxation and stress reduction that promotes healing - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Rei means universal and Ki means life force energy. It is a vibrational energy technique that brings balance and harmony to one’s energy systems by using the energy centers in the palms of the practitioner’s hands and can be done at a distance, or remotely. Remote benefits are just as effective as an in-person session.

There are no known contraindications of Reiki treatments.

Note: More and more hospitals are offering Reiki treatments for in-patients. Be sure to inquire for yourself or for a loved one who may be hospitalized. Sometimes Reiki sessions are offered through the Volunteer Services Department of the hospital.

A recent study of Reiki published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology Effects of Reiki on Autonomic Activity Early After Acute Coronary Syndrome, 2010;56(12):995-996 indicated Reiki treatment was shown to improve HRV (Heart Rate Variability) in patients recovering from acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

The process

Where: I offer remote/distance Reiki sessions; distance Reiki sessions are just as effective as in-person sessions. Remain in the comfort of your own home and relax while you receive Reiki energy from a distance.

Who: for adults, children and animals.

How: Wear comfortable clothing. Lie down or recline somewhere free from noise, distractions or interruptions. You may choose to softly play relaxing instrumental music in the background.

When: We will communicate by email or telephone in order to predetermine a specific date and time to begin your half hour session. I will contact you a moment before your appointment is scheduled to begin to confirm you are ready to begin your session. Because you will be extremely relaxed, I will not contact you immediately after your session. Follow-up questions or remarks are welcome via email.
